Visiting Bangla Sahib gurdwara just a couple of days before Gurpurab was no less than a blessing for Minissha Lamba. The actress, who studied in Delhi, would visit the gurdwara in Connaught Place regularly, but over the years, even when she was in Delhi for extended stays, she did not get a chance visit the gurdwara. “I still remember the last time when I was here. It was 15 years back on a Sunday, and it was very crowded. But there is always a certain peace you feel when you enter a gurdwara. Even when people are around, you find your quiet, peaceful place to sit. I am very happy that I got to visit the gurdwara just a few days before Gurpurab. Now, whenever I will be in Delhi, I will try to come here more often,” says Minissha, who was recently in the capital for a few days to attend an event.

The actress says that visiting gurdwara with her family on Gurpurab is one memory that she always cherishes. “In my family, all the festivals and celebrations are very simple. Our parents would make us understand the value of seva, gratitude and togetherness on festivals. They always encouraged us to do seva in a gurdwara on Gurpurab, and it was a divine experience. For me, visiting a gurdwara on Gurpurab has always been about thanking the lord for what I have today and expressing gratitude,” she says, adding, “I continued with the tradition of seva, which my parents inculcated in us from our childhood, even when I moved to Mumbai for work. But it’s been some time now since I did that. I think I will start doing it again.”

After visiting the gurdwara, Minissha went out with her friend to explore some food joints here. She tells us, “Exploring new food joints has always been on my list. I am a vegetarian now. Earlier, I never looked at a vegetarian menu, but now when I do, I realise there are so many new things I need to try.”
