As the world welcomed New Year 2022, Mohanlal too dropped a surprise for the cinephiles. The superstar has launched the first look poster of his maiden directorial debut ‘Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure’, on New Year’s Eve. The much-awaited first look poster features Mohanlal in a majestic avatar. The actor is seen seated on a throne in a never-before-seen avatar. In the poster, Mohanlal is seen with a tonsured head and a long beard, striking a serious pose.
While sharing the first look poster, Mohanlal also extended New Year’s wishes to his fans. “Here’s a toast to another year that rises before us. Wishing all good fortunes and prosperity upon each one of you! May this year turn out to be one of the most treasured time frames of your life! #HappyNewYear #BarrozFirstLook,” Mohanlal said, in his social media post.

Fans and movie buffs are going gaga over the first look poster. Mohanlal’s colleagues from M-Town too expressed their anticipation for the upcoming film.

‘Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure’ marks Mohanlal’s debut as a filmmaker. The film is based on an eponymous story penned by Jijo Punnoose, the filmmaker who directed India’s first 3D film ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’. The upcoming film is touted to be a 3D fantasy film and Mohanlal has stepped into the shoes of the lead character Barroz.

The makers had filmed the first schedule earlier, however, due to the unprecedented pandemic, they had to omit all of it, as the dates of the cast and their appearances changed. According to reports Shayla McCaffrey has been replaced by Indo-British actor Maya for the central role. Prithviraj Sukumaran too opted out of the film, due to a date clash. The team went on floors earlier this week and it is expected that the team will be sharing more details regarding the cast soon.
