After delivering a hit like ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’, Vicky Kaushal and Aditya Dhar announced their next ambitious collaboration titled ‘The Immortal Ashwathama’. However, soon after the film went into pre-production, reports suggested that it has been delayed due to budget issues. And now, speaking to a news portal, Vicky Kaushal has confirmed that ‘Ashwatthama’ has been temporarily shelved due to logistically reasons.
The actor stated that such a film requires a lot of money and there are various other factors involved too and that currently it was not logistically the correct time to go ahead with it. Vicky Kaushal also left a glimmer of hope that ‘Ashwatthama’ maybe revived in the future and stated that they want to make a film when everything is safe and it is logistically convenient for the producers.
Previously, ETimes had reported how ‘Ashwatthama’ was delayed due to budget issues. We had reportedly that after much deliberation producer Ronnie Screvwala had realised that the budget of this film cannot be curtailed, one of the reasons being that Aditya Dhar (director) had written it in such a way that its cost was crossing the Rs 200 crore mark (that’s the figure). The film, which was supposed to be shot on a green screen, required a humongous add-on of VFX. While the producer wanted something maximum to the tune of Rs 125 crore and after putting in so much money, OTT didn’t seem like a profitable option. Hence, the Vicky Kaushal-Sara Ali Khan starrer was put on hold.
